Spiritual Warfare in a Two Kingdom World

by Foothills Church on February 03, 2019

In the sermon, Pastor Mark stated, “We were born into a war between two different kingdoms.” At home group we will dig deeper into our role in that war.

  • Read 2Timothy 2:3-4. Paul uses the term “a good soldier of Jesus Christ”. He calls Archippus and Epaphroditus “our fellow soldiers” (Phil1.2 & Phil2.25). “Onward Christians Soldiers” was a popular worship song for generations. But today no one ever calls himself a soldier of Christ. Why do you think that is?

  • Paul equates being “a good soldier of Jesus Christ” with the willingness to “suffer hardship” for the sake of the gospel. Read also: 2 Timothy 3:12

Come to home group prepared to share a time you encountered trouble or hardship for being faithful to Christ. What was the end result?

Read 1Timothy 6:9-14. What are the things Paul tells us to run away from? What are the things we should stand firm on (fight) and never run away from?
