Beyond the Average

by Foothills Church on July 21, 2019

In the sermon Pastor Neil pointed out that we tend to judge ourselvesbased on our intentions but otherson what they actually do. This is a flawed strategy for humans. But did you know that God will judge us by what we do, not on our intentions? The things we actually do- our behavior, deeds, daily actions- have eternal consequence. In this lesson we’ll see that this is the reason for our confidence and perseverance in always doing the right thing. This lesson will fuel your conviction to always live in a manner that honors the Lord.

Read 2 Corinthians 5:9-10. We often hear someone say, “God knows my heart.” But the Lord makes it very clear that reward or recompense is based on DEEDS. Why do you suppose the Lord rewards us based on our actions, not our intentions?

Read 1 Corinthians 3:13-15. This passage refers to Christians. The distinction here is not between the saved and the unsaved. Rather the distinction here is between Christians who will lose reward, and those who will keep it. Based on this passage, do you think it’s possible that some believers will enjoy eternity more than others?
